I am voting for Carolyn Long for Congress instead of Jaime Herrera Beutler because when I retire, I’m going to need every penny of my Social Security, and as robust a Medicare system as this country can afford to maintain.
I worked my way through college, and have held responsible, decent paying jobs with good benefits, for the last 35 years. I even have a pension. But the math still doesn’t add up for me to “live comfortably” in retirement.
My Social Security checks won’t be used to augment my investments, or take trips to Disneyland with the grandkids. My Social Security will be needed to pay the mortgage and the electric bill.
The trillion dollar tax cut for the wealthy, that Herrera Beutler supported is unprecedented in this country and can only be financed through reductions in our Social Security and Medicare. That’s very bad news for your finances.
We need Carolyn Long in Congress — someone who understands and respects the financial realities of working class individuals and families.
