Carolyn Long is having another in-person town hall at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis. She has already had over 30 in-person town halls across our district and she welcomes everyone to attend.
Come and meet her, ask your questions, and share your concerns about our district. She sincerely wants to put people over politics and wants to work with all of us to find solutions to the problems facing our district.
Some of you may think you will not vote...

Letter to the Editor: Long Will Work to Preserve Social Security, Medicare

- The Chronicle
Carolyn Long is a dynamic new voice and force to represent us in the U.S. House of Representatives.
She has conducted over 30 town hall meetings in which she met with 3rd District folks face-to-face to hear their concerns. Our current congresswoman opted for the telephone meeting type. Pretty lame and impersonal outreach, in our opinion.
Rep. Jaime Herrera-Beutler voted for the Trump tax cut, which gives 83 percent of benefits to the top 1 percent. When lots of folks are struggling,...

Long’s support dropped by 1 percent when all ballots were tallied, while Herrera Beutler gained a point, giving Herrera Beutler 42 percent to Long’s 35 percent. Overall, Democratic candidates earned 49 percent of the vote, giving the party hope that...

Letter to the Editor: Retired School Administrator Urges Support for Carolyn Long

- The Chronicle
I am a retired educator and serviceman. For almost 40 years I worked with young people in Oregon and Washington. For the last 27 years of my career I was a school administrator in the Evergreen School District in Vancouver. My wife is a registered Republican. I believe it is time to choose Carolyn Long as a replacement for Jaime Herrera Beutler.
I am asking that you look past the party label that may have directed your vote in the past to delve into how our candidates stand on the issues....

I’m Voting for Carolyn Long Because I Need my Social Security

I’m Voting for Carolyn Long Because I Need my Social Security

- The Chronicle
I am voting for Carolyn Long for Congress instead of Jaime Herrera Beutler because when I retire, I’m going to need every penny of my Social Security, and as robust a Medicare system as this country can afford to maintain.
I worked my way through college, and have held responsible, decent paying jobs with good benefits, for the last 35 years. I even have a pension. But the math still doesn’t add up for me to “live comfortably” in retirement.
My Social...

Democratic congressional candidate Carolyn Long pressed Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, Tuesday on President Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court, arguing the selection could be a move to protect Trump from future legal consequences.
“Brett Kavanaugh has stated in the past that he believes the President should be free from investigation and criminal prosecutions while in office, but that only an act of Congress could provide those protections,” Long said in a...

FUNDRAISING: Long Has Raised More Money Than Other Dems in Race

- The Chronicle
Carolyn Long’s students say she’s a tough grader. She takes that as a compliment — and she’s hoping to take her red pen to Congress. Long is among three Democrats vying to take on Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, in November. The longtime Washington State University, Vancouver professor said her research into the state of politics today prompted her to get into the race.
“I couldn’t not notice what was happening on the national scene in...

Letter: Long Looks Like a Great Candidate for the Third District

Letter: Long Looks Like a Great Candidate for the Third District

- The Chronicle
My husband and I attended the town hall of Carolyn Long earlier this month at the Centralia library.
She is running against Jaime Herrera Beutler in the election this November.  She looked great "on paper" (her website) and she was terrific in person!  She is very bright, well-spoken and was interested in listening to everyone and asking lots of questions (and we estimate there were 60 or so people in attendance). She has lots of energy and is a firm believer in...
